A Higher Standard
... sometimes what you don't get with your website development solutions is more important than what you do! ..

Living, Working, and Playing -- In the Land of the Lone Star.
I’ve been involved with the World Wide Web full time since 1993 .. My primary interests are mostly having to do with .. Freelance Web Development – Server Op’s – Coding – Search Technologies.
As a freelance internet web developer/designer, I relish the thought of venturing into new areas and technologies of the internet. My beginnings were indeed fairly humble, with only a small under powered free html coder, I managed to produce some pretty spectacular internet eyesores. Today, however, it's a different story.
Aside from just having a working knowledge of XHTML (standards compliance and basic accessibility) and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS2 and CSS3), I also excel in the knowledge of writing and applying, php, xml, html, dhtml, basic java scripting/jquery -- I'm also very experienced or otherwise proficient in the use of Adobe Photoshop, Macromedia (Adobe) Dreamweaver, Swish/Swish Max, Webeasy Professional (IXLA, Avanquest) (3.0, 4.0, 5.0) and the use of and the applications related to both Windows and Linux environments.

Knowing when and how to use various graphics online isn’t something that they can teach you in school. When it comes down to the actual nuts and bolts of internet web design, experience can indeed be a rather merciless teacher. The knowing and understanding of both the back-end (server side) and the front-end (viewable web pages) of the total website building equation can be an advantage that not many in the world of web design are fortunate enough to have.
In the early years, putting together a functioning web design solution was enough for me. As time went on, I realized that in order to have a better understanding of just what it was that made the website work, in the physical sense, I would have to know more about the server it was being hosted on and it's functions. A whole new world opened up for me as I added to my knowledge and experience with regard to server operations and maintenence. Knowing how and why a server does what it does, complimented greatly my ability to put on a better performing web development solution -- What goes on in the background on the server side matters a great deal when it comes down to the functionality and performance of your hosted internet web solution.
Over the years, and as my experience level grew, there were opportunities that presented themselves that would have allowed me to go to work for some larger design firms. The more I grew in this industry, the more unwilling I became to even considering going to work for a larger firm. As a freelancer, I’ve come to realize a certain potential for growth that a larger firm would never be able to provide.
The hours spent putting together a web solution for a client can be long, and having the ability to take a break at any odd hour of the day or night, from the work in my office, can take the edge off.
Being able to recharge, even though the deadlines can be hectic, could be one of the secrets to my success in this industry. Working for a large design firm would never allow for the kind of freedom and creativity I can experience when working for myself.
The internet, is often misunderstood by many would-be website owners. To that end, I’ll spend the time required to help the potential client understand that the internet, and web design isn’t as difficult as some web designers would have them imagine. I’ve had those who would come to me wanting a development solution that they unknowingly already had. Education, on even some of very the basic things, with regard to website development, is the order of the day.
